Mandatory Fields on a GST Invoice

Under GST law (Section 31 of the CGST Act), every tax invoice must include:

• Name, address, and GSTIN of the supplier
• A consecutive serial number (unique for the financial year)
• Date of issue
• Name, address, and GSTIN of the recipient (if registered)
• HSN/SAC code of goods or services
• Description, quantity, and unit of goods/services
• Total value of supply
• Taxable value after discounts
• Rate and amount of CGST, SGST, IGST, and cess
• Place of supply (for inter-state)
• Signature or digital signature of the supplier
